While MLB currently has a deal with Topps to distribute NFT trading cards, the deal with Candy Digital is \u201cexpected to include a far broader suite of products,\u201d per ESPN\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/story\/_\/id\/31545433\/mlb-diversify-expand-nft-offerings-fall\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jeff Passan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom trading cards to autographed balls, baseball fans have demonstrated their passion for the sport and its players through collectibles for decades,\u201d MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/06\/01\/mlb-launches-into-nft-space-with-new-company-led-by-fanatics.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>. \u201cIn working with Candy Digital to offer NFTs to MLB fans, we\u2019re delivering an exciting new addition to the robust baseball collectible market.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday will mark MLB\u2019s inaugural \u201cLou Gehrig Day\u201d as teams across baseball honor the former Yankees legend. All players and managers will wear uniform patches to celebrate Gehrig as well as red \u201c4-ALS\u201d wristbands.<\/p>\n<p>Gehrig was diagnosed with ALS in June 1939.
